The South Australian Wine Industry Association has continued to advocate for comprehensive reforms in a detailed submission to Productivity Commission’s Draft Report on the inquiry into the national workplace relations system. The submission prepared by SAWIA in collaboration with the Winemakers’ Federation of Australia (WFA) responds to the 45 recommendations in the Draft Report.

The submission supports the Productivity Commission’s recommendations on unfair dismissal and enterprise bargaining, but calls for substantive reforms to the Modern Award system, including reducing the Sunday penalty rate in the Wine Industry Award 2010.

The submission highlights that the inquiry presents a unique opportunity creative and design the most rational, effective and efficient workplace relations system, but that more robust recommendations are required, in particular in relation to the Modern Award system to ensure that the inquiry does not become a lost opportunity.

A final report will be provided by to the Federal Government on 30 November 2015.
