Review of qualifications for the wine industry

Friday, Aug 26, 2016

Access to skilled employees is essential for the growth, international competitiveness and productivity of wine industry. To ensure that the vocational education and training qualifications offered by TAFE and registered training organisations provide skills for real jobs, the Federal Government has launched a new structure and system for how qualifications are developed and reviewed.

The aim is to put employers at the centre of the training system and making it response to the needs of industry.

In this context, SAWIA is advocating strongly to ensure that there is adequate representation by the wine industry on the industry reference committee that will drive the process of developing and reviewing the qualifications. SAWIA will also be making a submission by 9 September 2016 on the proposed 4-yearly work plan for the wine industry qualifications (see attachment).
