Labour Hire Licensing Bill announced

Thursday, Aug 10, 2017

Following the parliamentary inquiry into the labour hire industry which recommended a licensing scheme for the labour hire industry, the State Government has announced its intention to table the Labour Hire Licensing Bill 2017 in Parliament today.

SAWIA has been provided with a copy of the proposed Bill which Minister Rau will look to table in Parliament today.

SAWIA will be reviewing the Bill and will consult with members to gather information about the wine industry's concerns in the coming week. On an initial read of the Bill we particularly note the broad definition of 'labour hire services' and whether this capture some arrangements in the wine industry outside of traditional labour hire arrangements.

Feedback to the State Government is due by 8 September 2017.
