LEAD INSPIRE CELEBRATE
The South Australian wine industry has demonstrated excellence in environmental stewardship for many years. The SAWIA Environmental Excellence Awards Program aims to recognise and raise the profile of South Australian Wine Industry Association members that go above and beyond the basics of environmental management systems, by demonstrating leadership in adopting substantive and quantifiable improvements in areas of energy and carbon, land and biodiversity, water and waste. The Program will also help to identify the current environmental issues facing the wine industry and Australia, and the mechanisms used by those organisations to address those issues.

The 2018 Winners (theme of 'Leadership') were announced at the SAWIA Annual Members' Lunch on 21 September 2018.
The theme for the 2019 awards is "Leadership".
Applications under this theme may address a broad range of environmental aspects including any (or all) of the previous theme categories of biodiversity, water, waste, and energy / carbon management. A key focus of applications should be on adoption of leading edge practice that goes beyond compliance, and has led to demonstrable improvements to the environment and the business. Applicants should be able to demonstrate that their environmental improvements form part of their general business strategy that supports business sustainability and continuous improvement in addition to the environmental enhancements.
Applicants are referred to the SAWIA web site for listings of past winners and the Case Studies as examples of the sorts of improvements that could be suitable for inclusion in applications.
