Liquor Licensing Reform Bill Introduced

Thursday, Mar 30, 2017

Following the State Government's review of the Liquor Licensing Act 1997 in 2016, to which the South Australian Wine Industry Association (SAWIA) made submissions and appeared before, the Minister for Consumer and Business Services The Hon John Rau MP yesterday introduced the Liquor Licensing (Liquor Review) Amendment Bill 2017 in State Parliament.

SAWIA is currently undertaking a detailed analysis of the Bill to assess to what extent the Bill has addressed the concerns raised by SAWIA in our final submission to the State Government the draft Bill on 6 January 2017. In particular SAWIA is assessing the practical business implications of the provisions of the Bill on the wine industry.

It should be noted that the introduction of the Bill is the first step in the legislative process for the Bill to become law and SAWIA will closely monitor any developments to protect the interests of our members.

SAWIA's submissions on the Draft Bill on 6 Januarry 2017 is attached.
