Forming part of the Limestone Coast Zone, Mount Benson is a 300km drive south-east of Adelaide. Bordered by the Southern Ocean it is a cool-climate region blessed with natural beauty.
The region’s first grapes were planted in the 1980's by local farmers well attuned to Mount Benson’s unique and rugged climatic conditions. These grapes would later be used to create the region’s own style of delicate, cool-climate, maritime-influenced wines, which are making waves within the Australian wine industry.
Pass through the region and you begin to appreciate the lifestyle that the people lead here, grazing sheep, tending to crops and fishing for crayfish, intermittently broken up with a trip to the beach to relax the mind and soul.
Cabernet Sauvignon is the dominant variety in Mount Benson with Shiraz, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc also providing elegant regional examples.
