Nestled in the Limestone Coast
Traditionally a farming region famous for its lamb and beef, Wrattonbully is growing a new reputation as a world class wine region. Located between Coonawarra and Padthaway and part of the Limestone Coast Zone, Wrattonbully’s terra rossa over limestone soils are capable of producing rich, majestic red wines and white wines of elegance and precision.
Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz are the dominant varieties but Cabernet Franc and Merlot are emerging as regional specialties. Chardonnay is well-suited to the region and, in recent years, Wrattonbully’s Sauvignon Blanc has received wide acclaim.
The region is also home to Naracoorte Caves, which are World Heritage Listed for their significance in preserving Australia’s unique animal heritage.
