The world of wine and wine tasting doesn’t have to be intimidating. This class is ideal for those new to wine, and for those who would like to gain confidence tackling wine shop selections and restaurant wine lists.
The session will begin with an aroma and palate training exercise, followed by an introduction to viticulture and winemaking fundamentals. We’ll familiarise you to Australian wine regions, styles and varieties then focus on tasting techniques and vocabulary so you can understand what it is you are tasting and be able to express yourself. You will enjoy a number of popular styles of wine from different regions and have fun learning in a relaxed environment.

The sensory evaluation of wine
Viticulture and wine making fundamentals
Australian wine regions and styles
and to develop the skills and confidence to:
Food and wine match
Navigate restaurnat wine lists and cellar doors
Decant wines when necessary
Cellar wines appropriately
Cancellation policy: Written notice of cancellations must be received no later than 14 days prior to course starting dates for a refund. If notification is less than 14 days, only an alternative course will be offered. The purchase is tranferable and another person can attend in your place if you are unable to attend.
Payment Method: Payment can be made by credit card (Visa or MasterCard only). A confirmation of your registration (tax invoice) will be issued on receipt of your payment.
Privacy Policy: Credit card details are encrypted and aren't stored in a database of any form.
Cancellation due to lack of numbers: SAWIA reserves the right to cancel any workshop/course session advertised due to a lack of numbers
Vouchers: Vouchers are valid for 3 years from date of purchase.
National Wine Centre Food Board: You are welcome to add on a cheese or antipasto individually plated board when booking your course, simply check the number you wish to purchase and it will be added to your invoice. The cheese and antipasto boards are priced at a per head price and are unable to be shared in accordance with our COVID-Safe plan. All food must be ordered and payed for 5 days prior to your course start date.
You must be 18 years and older to be able to attend any NWETC wine courses.
