Did you know that up to half your electricity bill can be for being connected to the grid (known as 'network charges')? And these charges can vary according to how fast you use electricity and when you use it! One way to save on these costs is to shift your loads to cheaper times of the day to avoid the peak cost periods.
Have a look at our information and guides from our Energy Demand Management for Wineries program here.
Regularly review your electricity supply contracts and request the latest offers from suppliers. SAWIA members may be able to access best rates from our Wine Industry Partners and should contact us for more information.
Increasing numbers of wineries are choosing to generate their won electricity, either through solar photovoltaic panels, wind turbines or diesel generators. Wineries should first carefully consider the business case of such installations as well as any implications on their electricity supply arrangements. SAWIA members may be able to access best rates from our Wine Industry Partners and should contact us for more information.
