SAWIA will be consulting widely with the South Australian wine industry and would welcome input into the inquiry on the experiences of wine producers and wine grape growers of any challenges accessing labour and the extent to which migrant labour is utilised to fill labour shortages.
The terms of reference of the inquiry are as follows:
a) The impact of migration and population growth to South Australia’s productivity and economic performance;
b) South Australia’s long term population growth relative to other States in Australia over the past thirty years;
c) Current programs in place to attract new migrants to South Australia, in both the private and public sector;
d) Adequacy of available data on visa grants, migrant arrivals, and post-arrival settlement outcomes across all streams of permanent migrants, and opportunities for better integration of State and Commonwealth data-bases;
e) The practical measures that could be implemented to attract and retain skilled migrants to South Australia, with particular regard to regional workforce shortages;
f) Future opportunities to support population growth in South Australia; and
g) Any other relevant matters.
SAWIA would welcome any feedback by Friday 14 September 2018. Please provide any feedback to Business and Workplace Adviser, Henrik Wallgren, via email firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone 8222 9277.
