WineLab at MOD. was a pop-up consumer wine event held on Friday 18 October 2019 which provided an opportunity to link wine, art and science for after-work drinks with a twist. The event was coordinated by the South Australian Wine Industry Association in collaboration with MOD. Funding was from Primary Industry and Regions SA, the department which manages the Adelaide – A Great Wine Capital of the World program.
WineLab featured 11 wineries pouring their wines while sharing insight about the role of art and science in the making, packaging and selling of their wines. Participating wineries were Shut the Gate, Longview, Karrawatta, Zonte's Footstep, Levrier by Jo Irvine, Deviation Road, The Pawn Wine Co., Bleasdale, d'Arenberg, Mitchell Wines and Dowie Doole.
Guests paid $5 on entry for a souvenir wine glass with wines available for purchase by the glass and bottle throughout the event. Free tastings were available for the first hour and a delicious grazing table was provided by Food Lore. Along with the wines, guests were offered the opportunity to explore their palate with a sensory experience provided by AWRI staff and expand their understanding of wine through a pop-up talk by Graham Ellender of the University of Adelaide addressing the factors that influence our sensory perception of wine.
