The Japanese Market Intelligence Resource aims to provide market insights, tips and tools that can enable individual South Australian wineries to achieve export growth.
This resource looks at the historical, cultural, political and economic aspects of Japan, all of which inform and influence the way South Australian wineries will do business there. The resource describes the complexities of the Japanese wine market, including the demographics, preference and consumption habits of the Japanese wine consumer. This resource also outlines information on the practicalities of doing business in, and exporting wine to, Japan.
For this resource SAWIA spoke directly to the Government of South Australia Department of Trade and Investment Regional Director for Japan and South Korea, Sally Townsend, to gain her expertise and insights on the market. SAWIA also spoke to two South Australian wine businesses who currently export wine to Japan. Soundbites of these interviews appear throughout this document (click on the quotes to listen). The full interviews are available to listen to via links in the Resources section.
