Anyone selling, supplying or serving (for consumption) liquor in South Australia must be licensed under the Liquor Licensing Act 1997. This Act was comprehensively reviewed in 2015-2016, with changes progressively being implemented under the Liquor Licensing (Liquor Review) Amendment Act 2017.

Licensees are also required to comply with the Liquor Licensing (General) Regulations 2012 and the General Code of Practice under the Liquor Licensing Act 1997.
